HSA Committees
Mackay HSA has a wide variety of committees to help support our students throughout the year. See below for a description of each committee and the members involved.
CO-PRESIDENTS
This committee oversees all events and happenings. They attend monthly meetings with other HSA committees, monthly meetings with the Superintendent, meetings with the school principal, and monthly general meetings. Each co-president is responsible for a specific role: data, social, community relations, communications. See below for more details of each role.
DATA
Sets the HSA agenda, inputs skews on the toolkit, downloads toolkit data and distributes to appropriate chairs, oversees enrichment, manages the Facebook account.

SOCIAL
Purchases items needed for social gathering (i.e. coffee/snacks for meetings, staff luncheons, etc), manages Ready Refresh account and deliveries, organizes staff luncheons.

COMMUNITY RELATIONS
Coordinates and collaborates with other Tenafly organizations (Korean Parent Association, Chinese Parent Association, etc.), oversees lunch program.

Sends emails/weekly newsletters, manages class parents, works with school supplies vendor to organize fundraiser sale.

VP FUNDRAISING
This committee brainstorms fundraising ideas and events to help raise money throughout the year. They attend meetings with the principal when available, as well as, attend monthly general meetings. They help to organize and oversee several events throughout the school year, including: the two (2) book fairs, flower sale, logowear sale, etc.

VP ACTIVITIES
This committee is comprised of several members that help coordinate Mackay community activities and events. They are expected to attend meetings with the principal when available, as well as, attend monthly general meetings. Some events that are organized include: Halloween Fun Fest, Movie Night, Family Picnic, Family Portraits, etc.

TREASURER
This committee member is responsible for setting the yearly budget and producing monthly expense reports. They also attend board meetings with the principal and monthly general meetings. The treasurer pays invoices, manages the gaming license, taxes, and insurance.

SECRETARY
This committee member is responsible for recording meeting minutes, attending weekly board meetings, as well as attending monthly general meetings.

LUNCH
This committee is broken into several sub-divisions to help manage different roles. Overall they work to create a lunch menu, email contracts to vendors, verify invoices to be sent to the treasurer, print lunch cards and update binder information. They also are responsible for managing the email account, organizing and keeping inventory of supplies, and managing parent volunteers.

ENRICHMENT
Our after-school enrichment program is broken into three (3) sessions: fall, winter, and spring. This committee works to create a schedule that does not conflict with the Mackay and district calendar. They are responsible for creating a brochure for each session, managing the enrichment email account, emailing contracts to vendors, and verifying invoices to be sent to the treasurer.

BOOK FAIR
Mackay has two (2) book fairs throughout the school year. This committee is responsible for finalizing dates for the book fairs, as well as, organizing the delivery of the books, setting up the book fair, and gathering parent volunteers to assist for these days. They also assist in producing flyers to be sent home for the events.

CULTURAL ARTS
This committee meets with the school principal to discuss the calendar of events for the year. They are responsible to source and communicate with vendors to book assemblies, special grade-level activities, etc. They also work closely with the school secretary to coordinate dates, times, and contracts/invoices for vendors.

READ-A-THON
This committee is responsible for setting up the Read-A-thon and generating communication flyers. Once prizes arrive, this committee will organize and deliver to the school for student distribution.

CLASS PARENTS
This committee helps with selecting and ensuring each class has 2 class parents (if possible). All mass communications from HSA in regards to class parents will be handled by this committee.
